SELF-PORTRAIT
OBJECTIVE
To create a self-portrait entirely within Illustrator.
PROCESS
Drawing inspiration from the TV show, Arcane, I studied the style and decided what I wanted to emulate within my own illustration. Through a mix of shapes, gradients, gradient meshes, brush strokes, and lots of patience with my laptop's processing capacity, I was able to build up this piece.
TOUR POSTER
OBJECTIVE
To illustrate a tour poster for a musical artist based on the lyrics of one of their songs.
PROCESS
The opening lyrics of the song, "Lonely Ones," by LOVA are as follows:
Everybody's talking about last night
The cops showed up when everyone was passed out
At my classmate's house
No one told me where to go
But then again I'd never showed

The tour poster depicts the experience of only ever being involved in well-known situations from a distance, in part due to one's own conflicting desires. The shapes were built individually in Illustrator, then exported to Photoshop where I used airbrushes to add colour.
FUTURE FOREST
OBJECTIVE
To animate a quote within an illustration-heavy composition.
PROCESS
This quote has always been one of my favourites from poet and author, Ocean Vuong. For the illustration, I wanted to capture the story of a young, insecure kid who is comforted by their older self. The text is a mix of custom type created to look like moss and an existing typeface to break up the quote.
